Vancouver's Chinatown

race, rage, riots & redemption

Not your average neighbourhood.

Considered to be one of the largest Chinatowns in North America and the largest Chinatown in all of Canada, Vancouver's Chinatown is a site of culture and struggle. The rich history runs through the major arteries of the area - but for a period of time, this blood ran cold.

Where is Vancouver's Chinatown?

In the beginning, the Chinese of Vancouver were given four cramped city blocks to live in. Today, Vancouver's Chinatown is sandwiched between the Downtown Eastside and Vancouver's Downtown core and Financial District. Check out this map to learn more about the area as well as the prominent buildings and structures within it.
